Immersed in a wonderful landscape of olive groves, fruit trees and cultivated areas, once a Byzantine rite monastery inhabited by Italo-Greek monks, then an agricultural production center specialized in the processing of olives, the Cerrate Abbey gives a fascinating story of its double soul as a place of worship and historic masseria. What was life like in a masseria? In this experience you will discover the habits, customs and typical flavors of the Salento and Apulian peasant tradition. The tour will culminate in a lunch/dinner with local specialties, as per tradition, in the 19th century Casa del Massaro, which still retains the furnishings and setting of the time.
