Immersed in a wonderful landscape of olive groves, fruit trees and cultivated areas, once a Byzantine rite monastery inhabited by Italo-Greek monks, then an agricultural production center specialized in the processing of olives, the Cerrate Abbey gives a fascinating story of its double soul as a place of worship and historic farmhouse. After the guided tour of the Abbey, you will try your hand at a cooking workshop. During this experience you will learn to prepare orecchiette, maccheroni, sagne’ncannulate and many other types of pasta typical of Salento and you will also be given advice on how to cook traditional dishes.
