Immersed in a wonderful landscape of olive groves, fruit trees and cultivated areas, once a Byzantine rite monastery inhabited by Italo-Greek monks, then an agricultural production center specialized in the processing of olives, the Cerrate Abbey gives a fascinating story of its double soul as a place of worship and historic masseria. After the guided tour of the Abbey, you will embark on a choreographic journey into the Griko tradition and the Salento pizzica, through the language of music, dance and storytelling. During the meeting, each participant will be able to delve into the ethno-anthropological aspects of Greek culture, which still characterizes this territory today. You will also be able to learn to take your first steps in pizzica to the rhythm of the tambourine, the guitar and popular songs of the Griko language.
